Rare, an international conservation organization, struggled to manage program spending across 10 countries when traditional credit cards were unavailable or impractical in locations like their new Mozambique office. PEX implemented a global prepaid program with no minimums, instant card distribution, individual PINs and dashboards, and an API integration with Databasics. The result was greater spending visibility and control—staff can review balances and charges individually—and reconciliation that dropped from intermittent, manual Excel uploads (sometimes 2–3 weeks delayed) to automated reporting completed within days, saving Catherine hours of work. Rare now plans to expand PEX to more offices thanks to improved transparency, real-time funding controls, and simplified currency tracking.
