C&W Services Deploys Wireless Predictive Maintenance to Fix a Dated Walk-Around Program

C&W Services, a leading integrated facilities services and management company, needed to replace a manual, 30-day walk-around condition monitoring program at a life sciences client site. The process relied on handheld data loggers and outsourced analysis, creating gaps in coverage, inconsistent readings, safety concerns, and excessive time spent on data collection instead of equipment reliability work. Petasense provided a wireless, AI-based predictive maintenance solution to address these challenges.

Petasense implemented IIoT-based vibration monitoring using tri-axial Motes connected to the facility Wi-Fi, enabling continuous monitoring of critical assets like AHUs, pumps, compressors, exhaust fans, and chillers. The solution delivered real-time alerts and actionable insights that helped C&W Services detect an AHU belt and alignment issue before catastrophic failure and identify a noisy pump that was repaired through lubrication. According to C&W Services, the program has already produced at least two saves, avoided more than $30,000 in potential failure costs, and can deliver about a one-year ROI through saved resource costs.
