How a Hotel Merger Turned Into an HR Transformation

Premier Inn, part of Whitbread PLC, needed a more efficient way to manage HR as it expanded in Germany and took over 13 existing hotels and six hotels under construction from Foremost Hospitality. Before that, the HR team relied on manual, Excel-based reporting and time-consuming list maintenance, which required repeated data checks. The newly acquired hotels were already using Personio, and Premier Inn decided to roll out the same HR software across its remaining German hotels.

Personio helped Premier Inn standardize HR processes across all hotels in Germany. Employee data was stored in a digital employee file, absences could be requested online, and hotel managers could also use the system to upload documents and view personnel data. Premier Inn said the result was transparent, error-free reporting and all employee information in one place, supporting growth toward 95,000 available rooms by the end of 2020.
