Karkinos Healthcare, a technology-led oncology platform, faced the challenge of scaling its cancer detection and care delivery services across India to address the nation's high rate of late-stage cancer diagnosis. Their platform needed to handle massive, population-scale risk assessments, process immense volumes of genomics data, and remain operational in areas with inconsistent internet, all while avoiding proprietary software lock-in. They partnered with Persistent Systems to build a highly available and scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud.

Persistent Systems implemented a solution using a suite of Google Cloud products including Google Kubernetes Engine for automatic scaling, Cloud Storage for medical images, and Cloud SQL to manage risk assessments. This scalable infrastructure enabled Karkinos to deliver early cancer detection to over 400,000 individuals, process 5,000 risk assessments daily, and onboard 70 partner clinics to bring care closer to patients. The partnership with Persistent Systems also provided crucial billing support and favorable credit terms, helping Karkinos control long-term costs while transforming cancer care accessibility.
