A Persistent Systems Case Study
UD Trucks, a leading global commercial vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Japan, needed to decouple and realign its IT systems during its 2021 transition from the Volvo Group to the Isuzu Group. To avoid disruption to its fleet management services across multiple regions, the company set out to build an in-house solution that could support its current business model, reduce operating costs, and allow future customization. Persistent Systems supported the effort with its Google Maps Solution expertise and Google Maps API.
Persistent Systems helped UD Trucks migrate from the legacy system to a new cloud-based platform by building Geofencing APIs, an Engine, and a Geofence Loader API to transfer master data with no downtime. The Google Maps Platform-based solution streamlined fleet monitoring with geofence tracking and real-time alerts, eliminated the need for third-party libraries or licenses, and enabled UD Trucks to own, operate, and maintain the system internally. The solution was rolled out across 16 global markets, improving fleet tracking, ETA optimization, and operational efficiency for customers.
