US Regional Bank automates and expands carbon accounting in partnership with Persefoni

US Regional Bank, a publicly traded regional bank in the United States, wanted to strengthen its climate strategy and improve the quality of its carbon accounting as climate disclosure expectations increased. In 2023, it partnered with Persefoni to move from manual processes to a more automated, auditable approach using the Persefoni carbon management platform.

With Persefoni, the bank built a comprehensive CO2e ledger with transparency and traceability aligned to the GHG Protocol and PCAF, and it calculated emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3 for more than 1,000 facilities. The bank has measured 150,000 metric tonnes of scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions since adopting Persefoni, achieved an 8.5% reduction in combined scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2022 to 2023, completed an assurance process for the data, and is now expanding into areas such as purchased goods and services and financed emissions.
