Reliance Jio launches virtual classrooms for government schools with Perpetual

Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom company, sought to create a user-friendly virtual classroom and online learning platform for students and teachers in government schools. The challenge was to design a system that was accessible to novice computer users and could overcome issues like poor network connectivity in remote areas and a lack of prior tech experience. Perpetual was engaged to provide an end-to-end solution.

Perpetual used the Open edX platform as a foundation to build a custom solution that included live video sessions, a virtual whiteboard, and chat integration. To mitigate connectivity issues, the platform leveraged Jio's Partner Institutions. The resulting education platform was successfully launched, providing a stable and reliable tool that has been well-received and is being used to support education in government schools across India.
