Tesla Motors integrates 100Base-FX devices into a Gigabit backbone with Perle, saving replacement costs

Tesla Motors faced a challenge integrating its existing 100Base-FX fiber door entry readers into a new Gigabit network backbone, which created security and integrity issues. They needed a solution that avoided the high cost of replacing the readers entirely. Perle provided a solution using its MCR Media Converter Chassis and C-100-M2LC2 Fast Ethernet Media Converter Modules.

The solution from Perle allowed Tesla to convert the 100Mb fiber signals to copper and connect them to an existing Gigabit switch, successfully integrating the old devices into the new network. This eliminated the security risk of a separate network and saved Tesla the cost of replacing hardware. Perle was able to provide an optimum solution that eradicated the old network and preserved the customer's existing equipment investment.
