STELCO powers 50 substation camera sites with Perle PoE switches

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), a state-owned electricity provider in the Maldives, faced a challenge when installing security cameras at 50 remote substations. They needed industrial-grade networking equipment that could provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) to the cameras and convert data to fiber, all while operating reliably inside sealed, unvented outdoor enclosures. They turned to Perle for a suitable solution.

Perle implemented its industrial PoE switches, which are fanless and built to withstand extreme temperatures from -40°C to +75°C. These switches provided both the necessary PoE power to the cameras and the copper-to-fiber conversion for data transmission back to headquarters. The compact Perle switches fit easily into the enclosures and are performing well, with unused ports allowing for future system expansion at STELCO's substations.
