St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton achieves 100% internal WiFi coverage with Perle

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, a Canadian academic and research hospital, faced a challenge in achieving 100% Wi-Fi coverage in its new facility. The wireless access points placed outside its 13 elevator cabs could not penetrate the elevator's metal doors, creating a complete signal dead zone inside. They turned to Perle to find a solution that could extend the network into these WiFi-proof boxes while adhering to strict elevator industry regulations.

Perle provided its PoE Ethernet Extenders to solve the problem. The hospital utilized existing, unused twisted pair wiring within the elevator traveler cables to connect access points inside the cabs to the network. This created a seamless and reliable WiFi connection throughout the entire facility. The Perle solution was a simple, cost-efficient, and successful implementation that met all timeframe requirements and achieved the hospital's objective of complete internal wireless coverage.
