The customer, Rackspace, a multicloud solutions expert and global hosting provider, required reliable out-of-band access to manage, configure, and troubleshoot data center equipment across its extensive network. To meet the challenge of maintaining critical services and 100% uptime SLAs, they turned to vendor Perle and implemented their IOLAN Console Servers.

Perle's solution provided Rackspace with remote serial console management, which was used for pre-deployment configuration in new server rooms, pre-configuration of devices before installation, and as a last-resort access tool for troubleshooting during network outages. This allowed Rackspace's engineers to work efficiently from their desks, drastically reducing the need for physical travel to data centers, including those in unmanned facilities. The implementation by Perle ensured Rackspace could deliver on its stringent service agreements reliably.
