ERH extends HD CCTV over 20km with Perle media converters

ERH, a maintenance contractor for the Welsh Government, faced a challenge while upgrading a section of the M4 motorway to a smart motorway. They needed to replace 300 aging CCTV cameras with new HD Ethernet models, but these cameras lacked fiber connections. The requirement was to transmit the camera images over distances up to 20 kilometers to transmission stations using a single fiber strand.

Perle provided the solution with its Media Converters. These devices enabled the connection of the copper-based HD cameras to the long-distance single-mode fiber network, successfully bringing the video feeds into chassis-mounted units at the transmission stations. This allowed traffic management centers to monitor the motorway in real-time. ERH praised the Perle team for their great support and easy collaboration throughout the project.
