City of Charlotteville upgrades traffic control with Perle 5-port industrial switches and gigabit speeds

The City of Charlotteville needed to upgrade its self-contained traffic light control system to a synchronized, city-wide network for optimizing traffic flow. To overcome this challenge, they worked with Advanced Network Systems, who selected Perle IDS Managed Industrial Ethernet Switches for the project.

Perle's industrial switches were installed in NEMA enclosures at each intersection to connect cameras, controllers, and radios. These switches provided the necessary gigabit speeds and could reliably operate in extreme temperatures. The solution enabled the collection and backhaul of telemetry data to a central control center, allowing for real-time synchronization of traffic lights. Perle provided the dependable connectivity required for the city's new optimized system.
