Perkville’s Refer-A-Friend Program Scores Points with Xercise4less

Xercise4Less, a UK budget health-club chain with 26 locations, needed a simple way to keep members engaged and drive word-of-mouth referrals. In August 2014 they launched Perkville’s refer-a-friend program to let members easily invite friends — a crucial, low-cost growth channel for clubs where people prefer to exercise with friends.

Members send special offers via email, social or text and earn automatic rewards when friends join; friends earn incentives too. In the first five months, 3,026 members sent ~12,595 referral messages (4.2 per member), producing 517 new members — roughly over 20 new sign-ups per location each month — with >5% conversion in Aug–Oct and a median 17 days to signup.
