Carle Health & Fitness Center is a medically based fitness facility in Illinois serving about 3,700 members with services like training, dietitian consultations, massage therapy and specialized programs for people with disabilities. Facing a competitive market with roughly seven other local gyms and an older average member age (56), the center set a goal to improve member retention and engagement to stay on forecast.
As part of a multi-pronged strategy, Carle implemented the Perkville loyalty program (launched September 2022) to reward activities such as referrals and check-ins. Comparing the first half of 2022 (pre-launch) to the first half of 2024, retention rose from 68% to 73% — a 5% improvement — with members actively earning and redeeming points and the center planning further reward segmentation.
