Yoco, a Cape Town–based mobile payments company serving more than 18,000 merchants and processing over $170 million in card payments, faced growing pains as transactional volume increased: analytical queries began timing out, cross-database joins forced data replication, and operational logs were not structured for data science. To create a single source of truth and support ~100 employees across 15 domain teams, Yoco selected Periscope Data and its Unified Data Platform (warehouse and visualization tightly integrated with AWS).

Periscope Data consolidated Yoco’s data into Amazon Redshift and unified warehousing and visualization, eliminating cross-database joins, simplifying the data pipeline, and restoring fast, reliable analytics. The Periscope Data solution enabled company-wide dashboards used by nearly all 100 employees, removed query timeouts, saved engineering effort that would otherwise require a dedicated team, supported planned 2x–3x annual scaling, sped onboarding of new analysts, and opened the door to embedding dashboards and using Python for advanced analytics.
