A Periscope Data Case Study
D-tree International, a digital global health organization, faced the challenge of turning vast, dispersed community-health data into actionable insight in Zanzibar. With 400+ community health volunteers collecting millions of data points across tens of thousands of clients, D-tree needed a simple way to aggregate complex sources and share timely analysis with government officials and frontline volunteers. D-tree International has used Periscope Data to centralize that effort.
Periscope Data provided a single analytics portal and customizable dashboards for district health teams and D-tree’s staff, enabling real-time queries, automated visualizations, secure sharing, and integration with Python for apps. Using Periscope Data, D-tree rapidly identified issues (for example, a costly facility stockout), prompted a budget reallocation that eliminated patients’ out-of-pocket costs, and operationalized tracking (volunteer activity, compensation, facility delivery rates) across a 15-person team and 400+ CHVs — positioning the program to scale up to five times as many volunteers.
