Zoran Corporation, a Sunnyvale–based supplier of semiconductors and digital-signal solutions for consumer electronics, faced rapidly growing storage and versioning demands: large, globally distributed engineering teams handling designs that can span multiple terabytes, nearly 500,000 files under source control, and the need for an easy-to-use, scalable, reliable system to manage code and large binaries across eight design sites.

Zoran implemented Perforce Helix for version control and NetApp unified storage for consolidated, multiprotocol data access. Helix delivered high performance, multiplatform support, change-list tracking and proxy caching for remote sites, while NetApp scaled to 10 filers and about 40 TB of storage with NFS/CIFS access. The combined solution boosted performance and engineering productivity, reduced administrative overhead and costs, and accelerated time-to-market—leaving Zoran “very happy” with the results.
