A Perforce Case Study
VOO Telecom, an internet, telephony, and television service provider, needed a better way to unite its IT and technical departments, which were managing test cases with different tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint. The company also wanted a more structured approach to handling requirements, regression testing, and work with outside suppliers. Perforce’s Helix ALM, including Helix TCM, was introduced to meet both teams’ needs.
Perforce implemented Helix ALM across departments, allowing VOO Telecom to document tests centrally, reuse test sets release by release, create release templates and reporting, and isolate functionality by requirements for supplier “drops.” The result was reduced testing effort, improved coverage, easier status reporting, and stronger collaboration; adoption grew from 5 projects to 60 or 70 projects as the value became clear.
