How PSI Developed Radiotherapy Application Using PV-WAVE
The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) needed a way to compare proton radiotherapy with state-of-the-art photon therapy and present the results in a clear, convincing format. To support this research, PSI used Perforce’s PV-WAVE for displaying and analyzing 2D and 3D dose distributions, with the goal of identifying clinical cases where proton therapy offered a definitive advantage.
Perforce’s PV-WAVE enabled PSI to build a portable, easily distributed analysis system with fast processing of large datasets and interactive visual comparison tools. The solution let researchers overlay CT and dose data, plot distribution profiles, and generate dose-volume histograms, helping reduce development time and improve analysis of radiotherapy planning methods across platforms.
