How NetApp Helped NVIDIA Optimize Their Helix Environment

Nvidia needed a simpler, more reliable way to run its Perforce P4 environment, which supports software development, chip designs, and company-wide change control for critical documents. Its previous storage setup was expensive, complex, and time-consuming to manage, creating bottlenecks for a system used by more than 1,700 users.

Perforce and NetApp implemented a clustered NetApp FAS storage environment for P4, splitting workloads between SAN storage for metadata and NAS storage for client workspaces, with Snapshot, SnapMirror, and disaster recovery to Sacramento. The result was faster backups, stronger data protection, and simpler administration, saving Nvidia significant time and reducing maintenance and professional-services costs, while improving availability and disaster recovery.
