CureSearch Children’s Oncology Group needed a better way to manage bugs, support requests, and source code for its clinical trials software. Perforce’s Helix IM and Surround SCM were brought in to replace email, spreadsheets, custom scripts, and Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, which were too slow and difficult to scale as the organization supported complex, geographically distributed research operations.

Perforce implemented Helix IM for configurable issue tracking and Surround SCM for flexible branching, code sharing, and deployment management. The result was a dramatic reduction in study implementation time from more than four months to less than two weeks, while build packaging dropped from at least two days to a faster, more reliable process. CureSearch also gained productivity, shorter cycle times, and cost savings by using Helix IM instead of a separate help desk tool.
