Helix Core Combines Tech and Design at Vancouver Film School

Vancouver Film School (VFS) is a post‑secondary entertainment arts school with 13 one‑year programs that emphasize hands‑on production. To mirror professional pipelines and ensure graduates are job‑ready, VFS needed an industry‑standard version control system that could manage large media assets and offer reliable commercial support rather than community tools.

Perforce Helix Core was integrated into the Game Design curriculum (VFS provides 2,000 educational licenses free), chosen for its technical strengths and dependable support. Students use Helix Core from technical design through project production to learn source management, secure storage, rollback and collaborative workflows; the outcome is stronger industry‑relevant skills, active peer mentoring, and plans to expand Helix into other programs.
