From False Positives to Trust A Story of Static Code Analysis Adoption

Elektrobit, a developer of embedded software for automotive and IoT systems, faced growing pressure to ensure its code was safe, reliable, and compliant as software complexity increased. The company needed a static code analysis solution that could handle a very large codebase, supplier and open-source inputs, and reduce the false positives that had made earlier tools difficult for teams to trust. Perforce’s Klocwork was selected after a three-month evaluation.

Perforce implemented Klocwork to give Elektrobit more accurate static analysis across 2 to 3 million lines of code, with strong handling of C++ templates and a low rate of false positives. The solution also helped improve software architecture by providing a more global view of the codebase, and it built confidence across programming teams. As a result, Elektrobit strengthened defect prevention and compliance efforts while improving trust in the tool and its outputs.
