Amdocs, a $3B customer‑experience software leader with 19,000 employees and development centers worldwide, needed to replace IBM Rational ClearCase with Perforce Helix to better coordinate distributed teams, increase developer productivity, and secure faster technical support — all while minimizing disruption and preserving legal provenance and key version history.

Amdocs adopted a ClearCase‑aware baseline‑and‑branch import (BBI), migrating active branches first after three weeks of scripting and dry runs so the actual cutover took one day; rename mappings handled historical file moves. The five‑month program delivered lower licensing and admin costs, easier global development and training, much faster merges (from days to hours), excellent Perforce support, and ClearCase retained only for IP provenance.
