Passportal is a cloud-based IT security SaaS that helps VARs, MSPs and ISVs manage passwords and documentation. As its customer base and database workload grew, Passportal faced the challenge of keeping critical customer data always available and compliant—aiming for five “9s” uptime in its AWS environment to avoid costly downtime and regulatory risk.

Percona delivered Percona XtraDB Cluster and 24x7 Percona Support for MySQL, deployed as a three-node cluster with a fourth backup node behind HAProxy. This allowed full instance rebuilds in under an hour, cut restore time from up to 14 hours to 25 minutes (a 34-fold improvement), reduced AWS operational costs and deployment/issue resolution times, and helped Passportal maintain the high availability its customers require.
