Lookout is a mobile-first security company that protects enterprises, government agencies and millions of individuals. Their AWS/Aurora database environment is critical to product responsiveness, and as they scaled Lookout needed to simplify and optimize their deployment to guarantee continuous uptime while reducing cost and operational complexity.

Percona performed a Database Performance Audit and used Managed Services plus Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM) to re-architect Lookout’s setup from 35 sharded master/slave pairs to a microservices-based topology running on just 10 instances. The changes simplified operations, provided real-time query and metric visibility to prevent bottlenecks, preserved uptime and cut OPEX by nearly $500K per year.
