SBM Offshore's SBM Installer, a multi‑purpose dive support and construction vessel, struggled with expensive, high‑latency VSAT‑only connectivity, poor router placement, and a tight deployment window that hurt crew and company communications. Peplink (via reseller/installer TECHfirm Canarias) was chosen to address these issues using the MAX BR1 IP67 router and Peplink's InControl management platform.

TECHfirm Canarias installed the Peplink MAX BR1 IP67 in a protected outdoor location with an RJ45 feed to the technical room and used Peplink InControl for zero‑touch setup, remote monitoring and policy configuration. The ship now uses 4G as its primary WAN, delivering much lower latency and higher bandwidth than VSAT, reduced costs, real‑time apps (video conferencing, VoIP, streaming), improved crew communication and morale, and the full deployment was completed in under a day.
