Making the Jump to Unbreakable Live Broadcast

Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), the public broadcaster for central Germany, needed a fast, reliable way to deliver live outdoor and studio broadcasts without the long 3–6 week lead times for temporary internet connections. MDR selected Peplink — deploying MAX HD4 and MAX Transit Duo routers, Balance 710 appliances and the InControl2 cloud management platform — to provide just-in-time, resilient connectivity for outside broadcasts and disaster recovery.

Peplink built a SpeedFusion SD‑WAN across two data centers with a third router as backup, bonding multiple links and enabling automatic failover between sites. The result: stable, high‑availability connections between studios, transmission vehicles and outdoor locations, continuous live sports and event coverage without interruptions, simplified central management via InControl2, and the ability for subsidiaries to install and manage routers independently.
