A Peplink Case Study
LSU Health Sciences Center operates mobile mammography vehicles serving medically underserved North Louisiana and needed a robust, always-on connection to send large 3D mammography files (~600MB), access university databases, and support multiple on-board devices from areas with poor cellular coverage. They engaged Peplink and deployed Pepwave MAX routers (MAX HD4 or MAX BR1s with MAX HD2) with a Balance 580 at the university to provide bonded cellular links and resilient VPN connections.
Peplink bonded multiple cellular providers and used VPN aggregation to the Balance 580 so the vehicles can reliably upload images to the university PACS, access patient systems, and use VoIP, with Wi‑Fi-as‑WAN as backup. The solution cut a 600MB upload from 10 minutes to 4 minutes and delivered rural upload speeds up to 22 Mbps, enabling more reliable, life‑saving screening and communication.
