From Signal Gaps to Seamless Dispatch: Transformed Rural Texas’s Firefighting Operations with Peplink

Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department (RMVFD) serves North Blanco County in rural Central Texas, where limited internet infrastructure and weak radio and cellular coverage made reliable communication difficult across its 250-square-mile district. To support emergency call intake, dispatch, mapping, and coordination, the department needed a way to stay connected in the field.

Peplink equipped six RMVFD emergency apparatuses with MAX BR1 Mini 5G routers, roof-mounted cellular/GPS antennas, and iPad docking stations, using the Verizon Frontline 5G Network for First Responders and InControl 2 for remote management. The result was strong coverage across the district, seamless access to CAD, AVL, weather, navigation, HAZMAT, and medical tools, plus improved Wi‑Fi calling and shared hotspot access for assisting agencies, helping speed response and strengthen crew safety.
