Chemgas, a pioneer in transporting liquid gases since 1960, modernized its fleet’s onboard communications with Peplink to fix long‑standing connectivity problems. Vessels suffered weak cellular signals and only one SIM‑equipped workstation, forcing crew to queue for updates; Chemgas needed an intuitive, robust system with automatic failover. They selected Peplink hardware including the MAX BR1 IP55 (and supporting AP One AC Mini and InControl 2) to address these issues.

Peplink installed a MAX BR1 IP55 with a SIM card and an AP One AC Mini to extend shipboard Wi‑Fi, and configured the MAX BR1 to use VSAT as primary WAN with 3G automatic failover, managed remotely via InControl 2. The new setup enabled multiple workstations to connect and work simultaneously, improved 3G reliability and configuration ease, and boosted productivity — so much so that Chemgas decided to equip all 40 vessels in their fleet with the Peplink solution.
