Carpenter Oak – Point-to-Point Rural Internet

Carpenter Oak, a specialist timber‑frame manufacturer based in rural Devon, struggled with extremely limited ADSL and unreliable 3G/4G mobile coverage while migrating its IT to G Suite and cloud services. To remedy the connectivity shortfall they worked with integrator Grapevine Connect and selected Peplink hardware — specifically 2x Peplink Balance One units — as part of a point‑to‑point fixed wireless solution.

Grapevine Connect installed a dedicated ~2.5 km point‑to‑point wireless WAN using high‑gain directional antennas and the Peplink Balance One routers to link the rural yard to a downtown internet gateway. The Peplink solution delivered a stable, higher‑capacity connection that enabled cloud applications, VoIP telephony and reliable data backups, significantly improving internet speed and reliability and allowing Carpenter Oak to remain in their rural location.
