The University Of Minnesota Improves PeopleSoft Accessibility & User Experience

The University of Minnesota, a large public university, sought to improve the accessibility of its PeopleSoft Campus Solutions for over 50,000 students, particularly for users relying on screen readers. The predefined user interface caused significant layout and readability issues, making navigation difficult and creating usability problems. To address this, the university partnered with the vendor PeopleUX to enhance the user experience and ensure compliance with accessibility regulations.

PeopleUX transformed the existing HTML structure without needing to redevelop the core PeopleSoft application. Their solution improved semantic structure, added ARIA roles, and simplified page layouts to be fully compatible with screen readers. As a result, the university successfully rolled out 71 accessible use cases for students, faculty, and job applicants. PeopleUX enabled the university to achieve its accessibility goals at a fraction of the cost and effort of custom development.
