Opportunity Development Centers, a Wisconsin non-profit with 206 employees, was facing rapidly rising group health insurance premiums driven by a few high-claim employees and limited in-network provider options that left staff with costly out-of-pocket care. As an applicable large employer (ALE) they needed an ACA-compliant alternative that would lower costs, preserve benefits, and improve recruitment and retention — so they turned to PeopleKeep and its individual coverage HRA (ICHRA).
PeopleKeep implemented an ICHRA that let ODC set class- and need-based allowances, maintain ACA compliance, and give employees choice over individual plans; PeopleKeep’s customer success team and dashboard simplified administration. The change saved Opportunity Development Centers about $100,000 per year, resulted in many employees having premiums fully reimbursed, improved hiring and retention, and reduced benefits admin time.
