Southern Apennine District Basin Authority improves water monitoring with Pentaho and real-time IoT analytics

The Southern Apennine District Basin Authority, a government body in Italy, faced the challenge of protecting Southern Italy's water resources from natural disasters and human-made hazards like illegal dumping. To assure sustainability and improve monitoring, they partnered with vendor Pentaho and implemented Pentaho Data Analytics to harness IoT data for better forecasting and incident response.

Pentaho's solution integrated data from multiparametric sensors, including video and thermographic feeds, with GIS and meteorological forecasts. This provided the Authority with improved visibility of anomalies, enabling faster response to incidents and greater governance of hydrogeological instability. The results included a direct connection to emergency services and new insights to boost sustainability and combat climate change.
