Triennale Milano unveils ‘Inequalities’ on view through November 9, 2025 with Pentagram

Pentagram developed a data-driven visual identity for Triennale Milano's 24th International Exhibition, titled "Inequalities." The customer, a prominent design museum, faced the challenge of creating a cohesive and flexible brand system that could visually articulate the complex, urgent theme of global disparities. The identity needed to be accessible and engaging for a broad audience while respectfully conveying the gravity of topics like socioeconomic injustice and environmental breakdown.

The solution was a dynamic generative system based on "tree map" data visualizations, translating statistics into modular, pixel-like patterns. Pentagram's team, guided by partner Giorgia Lupi, implemented this across exhibition graphics, city-wide promotional campaigns, and the exhibition catalogue. The result was a highly recognizable and adaptable visual language that provided a cohesive framework for the wide-ranging content, successfully drawing public attention to the exhibition and its critical themes through a distinctive and thought-provoking presence in Milan and international media.
