The New York Times shares 1,374 days of Long Covid data storytelling with Pentagram

The New York Times presented a data storytelling challenge to communicate the complex and often misunderstood experience of Long Covid sufferers. Partnering with Pentagram, the project aimed to translate one individual's extensive personal health data into a compelling visual narrative that could raise public awareness.

Pentagram developed a data-driven visual essay for The York Times, created by partner Giorgia Lupi. The solution transformed a detailed personal spreadsheet into an accessible visualization using colored brushstrokes and symbols to represent symptoms and treatments over time. The piece reached hundreds of thousands of readers, providing many in the Long Covid community with a tangible narrative to help others understand their daily struggles, thereby achieving its goal of raising significant awareness.
