Bait reveals 2 hidden title layers with Pentagram

The customer is a production for the show "Bait," created by Riz Ahmed and Left Handed Films. The challenge was to develop a title sequence and location cards that visually represented the show's complex themes of shifting identity, perception, and the emotional toll of seeking validation. Pentagram was enlisted to create this motion graphics work.

Pentagram designed a title sequence using a visual mechanic of color filters and a single typographic layout to reveal and conceal episode titles, mirroring the protagonist's multiple identities. This solution extended to the location cards, carrying the visual language throughout the entire show. The vendor's work successfully distilled the show's core themes of language, secrecy, and identity into a cohesive identity that reveals more as the story progresses.
