Case Study: dnata achieves real-time employee safety with PENSO's Bluetooth "dnata blue button" wearable

A PENSO Case Study

Preview of the dnata Case Study

Wearable technology to make dnata employees safer

dnata, one of the world’s largest air services providers with over 27,000 staff across 55 countries and AED 10.3 billion in revenue, briefed PENSO to drive safety across its operations. PENSO tackled the brief with wearable technology: a Bluetooth wristband called the dnata blue button designed to counter the “bystander effect” by giving every employee a simple way to flag unsafe activity.

PENSO implemented the dnata blue button so any staff member who spots a hazard can press the button, which immediately prevents others from working within a 30–50 metre radius until the unsafe activity is stopped. The solution shifted behaviour by empowering frontline employees to intervene, created an operationally measurable safety lockout zone, and exemplifies PENSO’s user-centred mix of product, service and management innovation.
