Unitywater delivers 2.6 gigalitres of recycled water annually with Pensar

Unitywater engaged Pensar, as part of the WIS joint venture, to address the challenge of increasing sewerage treatment needs due to population growth and to deliver a reliable supply of recycled water for agricultural irrigation. The project required designing a new scheme that could work with existing assets and meet the varying water requirements of different local crop types.

Pensar designed and constructed a $100 million network of pipelines, pump stations, and reservoirs to deliver Class A recycled water over 25km. The solution repurposed existing assets and provided an on-demand, pressurized water supply. This resulted in the delivery of 2.6 gigalitres of water annually, diverting discharge from rivers and providing water security that allowed local agribusinesses to invest and expand, while also creating increased local employment opportunities.
