Seqwater upgrades Molendinar Water Treatment Plant in 10-week shutdown with Pensar

Seqwater, the utility servicing the Gold Coast region, faced the challenge of upgrading the largest water treatment plant at Molendinar, which had not been significantly updated since the 1980s. The critical challenge involved a complete, first-ever shutdown of the plant's backwash and electrical systems for a ten-week period without causing any disruption to the water supply of the surrounding communities. Pensar was engaged to deliver this design and construct project.

Pensar implemented a comprehensive upgrade, which included replacing pumps and blowers, upgrading electrical switchrooms, and constructing new buildings. Through extensive planning and coordination, including the use of 3D models for client communication, Pensar successfully took the plant offline and back online, creating new operational manuals for future use. The project was completed on time with no community disruption, ensuring the plant's future capacity and reliability.
