Seqwater renews $40m+ flood-resilient electrical infrastructure with Pensar

Seqwater, the bulk water authority for South-East Queensland, faced a significant challenge with the flood vulnerability of the heritage-listed Mount Crosby East Bank Pump Station, a 130-year-old facility critical to the region's water supply. The risk of system failure and prolonged water loss required a major renewal of its critical electrical infrastructure. Pensar was engaged for the design and construction solution to address this challenge.

Pensar implemented a comprehensive solution that included connecting the pump station to a new substation, replacing high voltage motors and the main switchboard, and constructing new support infrastructure. A key achievement was Pensar's proposal to replace rather than refurbish the HV switchgear, which allowed the critical asset to remain fully operational throughout the project. Through detailed 3D modeling, early constructability workshops, and close engagement with Seqwater, Pensar ensured the project was delivered successfully, securing a resilient water supply for South-East Queensland.
