Hunter Water upgrades water security with Pensar's 7ML reservoir and 2.4km trunk main

Hunter Water Corporation engaged Pensar to deliver a major potable water infrastructure upgrade to increase storage capacity and improve water security for its growing network. The challenge involved constructing a new reservoir and trunk main across a complex alignment with significant obstacles, including multiple utility interfaces, Aboriginal heritage constraints, and the need to manage construction across two separable portions with different delivery models.

Pensar successfully designed and constructed a new 7ML reservoir and a 2.4km trunk main. Through optimized design, proactive stakeholder engagement, and careful utility management, Pensar accelerated delivery, improved constructability, and completed the project with zero work-related injuries. The solution significantly enhanced network capacity and water security for the Lochinvar, Branxton, Greta, North Rothbury, and Huntlee areas.
