Hunter Water upgrades 1.4km rising main with Pensar

Hunter Water faced the challenge of upgrading its ageing stormwater infrastructure to improve system reliability. The project involved replacing a long pipeline through environmentally sensitive coastal wetlands and refurbishing a pump station, all while navigating complex environmental and logistical constraints. They partnered with vendor Pensar for the design and construction of this critical upgrade.

Pensar successfully delivered the design and construction of the new storm flow pump station and rising main. The solution included installing new pumps, an odour control system, and using horizontal directional drilling to minimize environmental disruption. Pensar's work ensured Hunter Water's performance requirements were met and included a successful large-scale isolation of multiple pump stations. The vendor also supported local business engagement and provided opportunities for First Nations People.
