Glencore delivers Bulga flocculant plant on time with Pensar, achieving zero LTIs

Glencore required the construction of a new flocculant plant for its Bulga Open Cut coal mine as part of a tailings dam relocation project. The challenge for vendor Pensar was to design and build this complex facility next to an operational mine road while also navigating significant COVID-19 travel restrictions between Queensland and New South Wales that impacted workforce availability.

Pensar delivered a complete solution, handling everything from geotechnical investigations and concrete slab construction to the installation of mechanical and electrical components, including large hoppers, mixing tanks, and pumps. Despite equipment delivery issues and pandemic delays, Pensar successfully commissioned the plant with zero safety or environmental incidents and achieved practical completion on time.
