Banana Shire Council doubles pump flow to 100L/s with Pensar

Banana Shire Council engaged Pensar to increase the instantaneous flow capacity of the Moura Raw Water Pump Station. A key challenge was to enable pump retrieval during a Q100 flood without requiring hazardous work over water, all while contending with the Dawson River's rapidly fluctuating water levels.

Pensar delivered a design and construction solution that doubled the station's flow capacity from 50L/s to 100L/s. Their work included a custom hose reeling machine and pump catch tray for safe pump retrieval, and installed submersible probes in inclined conduits to eliminate over-water work. The solution provided both improved flood resilience and additional drought resilience for the raw water supply.
