Alpine Shire Council upgrades Myrtleford Bridge to raise load limit with Pensar in 6 months

Alpine Shire Council engaged Pensar to upgrade the Myrtleford Bridge, which required increasing its load limit to safely accommodate heavy vehicles. The project faced challenges including extreme weather causing continual moisture, the need to maintain traffic access with minimal disruption to residents, and an identified flaw in the initial design.

Pensar implemented a solution that included cleaning and preparing concrete surfaces, repairing spalls, and installing a CFRP strengthening system using carbon fibre fabric. Despite the weather, Pensar controlled water flow to allow work to proceed, kept the project on schedule, and collaborated with the client to create an alternative design. The bridge remained open with no disruptions to traffic or pedestrians throughout the entire project.
