Pensa Systems worked with a leading food retailing company and a category captain brand in fruit snacks to address on-shelf availability challenges during a period of accelerating demand. The retailer wanted to know whether expanding fruit snack shelf sets from 3/4 feet to 6/8 feet in selected regions would improve product holding power, protect sales, and capture more market share and profitability.
Using Pensa’s shelf availability analysis, the team quantified the value of larger, more actively managed sets and tracked performance by set size and SKU velocity. Pensa found that category-wide OSA improvements could create more than a +12% sales opportunity, and that 6-foot sets outperformed 3-foot sets by +6.5 points in success rate, with especially strong gains for high- and medium-velocity must-have SKUs.
