City of Charles Sturt integrates DBYD with Capital Works

The City of Charles Sturt, a local government in South Australia, was manually processing more than 600 Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) requests each month, a workload that was taking about 5 hours a day and consuming 1 FTE. With enquiries growing around 10% per month, the council needed a faster, more accurate way to handle DBYD responses and also wanted a solution that could integrate with its Capital Works program. PelicanCorp’s TicketAccess solution was selected to automate the process.

PelicanCorp implemented TicketAccess in a staged rollout, first automating DBYD responses and then adding integration with the City of Charles Sturt’s Capital Works program. The result was a major reduction in manual effort, cutting the process down to about 1 hour per day and effectively freeing up the equivalent of 1 FTE. PelicanCorp also helped the council improve response times, reduce human error, and better protect an estimated $367M worth of underground assets.
